The contrast between the pared-down outer shape and the rich graphic story which is revealed as you place the items is very strong. Inside, the contents thrive in incredible décor. The vase can be divided however you like, revealing VIP items from a beautifully staged table, bustling, surprising and generous. The story of Qing is inspired by a famous Chinese proverb from the final of the Four Books and Five Classics collection: Dream of the Red Chamber. An absolute classic in 18th Century Chinese literature, this novel explores the meandering emotions of two characters in a historical, political and poetic landscape, evoking a rare intensity. Rachel Convers, who imagined faces rising up from the waters, with the soft feminine figures of the possible loves. Strewn with fleur-de-lys and irises, they skim the opalescent surface of the river in their gracious, melancholic roaming.
