About the panda:
Being a type of bear, pandas are both strong climbers and swimmers. They grow to about 1.5 m long and weigh up to 100 kg, despite being vegetarian and having a diet consisting almost solely of bamboo. Lazy in nature they sleep for the majority of the day. This combined with the fact that the females are only fertile for around 2 – 3 days per year has contributed to them being on the brink of extinction. Today wild pandas can only be found in China.
The panda’s fur is thick and very dense. The base colour is white with black patches on the legs, ears, and around the eyes.
